Lake Tahoe Park Association

Annual Property Owners Meeting, July 1, 2001

Richard Wilson, Manager, opened the meeting by introducing each director and the on-site employees. Wilson expressed his appreciation for the outstanding efforts made by the on-site staff and also the individuals who helped with the administration of the Association.

This year the Association has two new employees: Donna Lerch, on-site Manger, and Barbara Malm, Association Manager of all assessments, accounts receivable, payable, membership roster and preparation of our financial statements for review by Sitkoff and O'Neil Accountancy.

The financial statements were reviewed by Wilson and included an explanation of the annual variation in income and expenses for 1998-1999. The total cost to the Membership in the form of dues decreased due to the introduction of the new, fixed-rate assessment. The reduction in dues was offset by increased buoy revenue.

Picnic Tables - Click to ZoomThe next agenda issue was the normal review of the operating policies of the beach. Wilson reviewed the policies with special emphasis on boating and swimming safety, picnic table reservation and use of the beach by large parties. The picnic table reservation policy set up for 2001 worked well for most members. The demand for tables on the fourth of July will be supported with the addition of extra folding tables and chairs available on a first come, first served basis.

Steve Osborn, President, summarized the status on the construction of the restrooms. We received a conditional permit for the construction. The primary stipulation was the removal of the north and south fences which extend past the new high water level down to the old high water level of the lake. The fences prevent the access of the general public from using the beach in front of the Association property. The Association is reviewing the legal rights to demand this condition in order to build the restrooms. The general feeling of the Board and the Membership is that the fences will stay in their present location.

The status of the gas station property was reviewed. Progress toward closure is slow but sure. We are starting to abandon test wells, reduce the monitoring of the wells from quarterly to semi-annually and will be dismantling the filtration plant this Fall. The majority of the fees are being paid by the state's clean up funds. The Association pays for legal representation and assistance.

Bob Thomas, Board Member, discussed some ideas on how to generate additional income without increasing the annual assessment. Several ideas included charging for parties and weddings, a one-time new member fee and additional guest fees. The Board will be considering these ideas.

Playground - Click to ZoomGeneral decision from the Membership included a request for better playground equipment, collection of accounts receivable, the July 4th picnic table reservation system and vandalism of the park. The Membership was generally happy with the operation of the beach, the current assessment procedure and beach operating policies.

The final action of the meeting was the election of 4 directors. Three incumbents were up for nomination. Included were Bob Thomas, Greg Gilbert and Karl Walters.

Nominations from the floor were for Elizabeth Hale, Gary Johnson, Mary Jackson, Nancy Morse and Bev Bedard. All three directors and Nancy Morse were chosen in a close election.

The meeting ended at 11:45 am in favor of free hot dogs, soda and beer.
